Dr Kruse has come out as anti Himalayan Rock salt. I'm trying Maldon Sea Salt that costs an arm and a leg in ZARS. Anyone else got ideas?

Think for yourself?
;-)
Just kidding....I read that and I'm not buying into it, personally. I use Redmond Real Salt from Utah, mostly.

Oh, I've seen that. Is that considered high, then? I didn't realize it was. What do you think is a suitable PPM?

Naturally occurring calcium fluoride is not the same thing as the toxic water additive sodium fluoride, however. Fluoride occurs naturally all over the world....

I’ve been using Celtic Sea salt for years. I’m surprised Kruse is just now figuring out Himalayan salt isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I just switched after using Himalayan for a while but always used to feel for the mountains that It was getting mined from and when I heard a few peeps saying it might not be great for us and the environment due to methods used it was easy to switch back to sea salt, i bought some flor de sel it's lovely stuff

Before I gave up added salt, I had a variety of salts - Celtic, Redmond’s Real Salt, Black salt, salt with red clay from Hawaii ... I had options. LOL

I've got a few test tubes of salt from around the world. The thing is you can get too involved in different salts. Don't have patience for that.

I use the Redmonds for adding to cooked food, mostly, and I also have a grey sea salt (le paludier?) that is finer that I add while cooking. Smoked salt is kinda nice too, for meat.

Red and black salt is the best but as its got all the minerals and trace elements, why are people complaining about if you cut all the salt from processed fodds your fine.

that changed for me. I was nervous about it. But, I don’t really miss it. Especially considering that my bp is the best it’s ever been. That far outweighs what my tastebuds has grown accustomed to.

Unrefined salt was affecting you BP? Interesting....when I worked in a naturopathic physician's office, he switched people from refined salt to unrefined sea salt and resolved most BP issues...provided they kept their fluid intake up.

Yes, there are some people who are actually sodium sensitive, and apparently I’m one of them. It didn’t matter how much water I had, how strict I kept my keto eating, my bp wouldn’t go down and stay down. And I hadn’t used refined salt in years. I gave
up added salt in January and haven’t looked back since primarily because of my bp, secondarily because little to no fluid retention except during hormonal times. I’m good with that.

He posted a YouTube video of the Sea de Guerande--sold under the tradename "Celtic Salt" in the U.S.--from Brittany recently, so I guess he uses that.
It's certainly made by a craft process. I was in a health food shop that has it's own bakery attached a few months ago and a Breton came in to deliver salt to them. He had a plastic sack on his shoulder. This was the salt. He said to me that he himself makes it.

Salt is salt. Morton salt comes from the ancient sea beds around Salt Lake City. The minute traces that exist simply is overhyped commercialism.

ZARS? Is that currency--the Rand. You're in RSA, aren't you?
There must be seasalt made locally. If I google "seasalt South Africa" I find it's even imported to the U.S.!

"Unlike Industrial Salt, Khoisan Sea Salt does not contain artificial chemicals nor any anti-caking agents as our salts have a natural low moisture absorption. Our pristine 400-year old brine is pumped from an underground seawater lake (aquifer) and due to siphoning through shell beds, Khoisan’s salt is higher in calcium content."

These turn out to be complaints that have been around for some time. Dr. Kruse cites this site:
https://www.biologicalresearchinstitute.com
However, I can't find the relevant page there (and nor can Google on a specific site search).
I did find this:
http://ameenbrooks.com/blog/pink-salt/
This bit made me laugh:
"Unlike the human body, it’s not inorganic."
Really?
But maybe some of these complaints are true. I've no idea whether you need lithophilic organisms or enzymes in your salt. Where the list of supposed drawbacks originates I don't know, but it might predate 2016.

Yup. I'm researching it for myself. The claims around the powers of HRS have always been too high in the Paleo community. Salt is not Salt. But I'm wary of HRS after using it for 3 years. I'm looking to revise all my old ideas. I don't follow JK without questioning him.

I posit that Jack is following a disruptor approach on this. I'm not going to get my knickers in a knot about it. I'm moving on from HRS in the same way I moved on from commercial table salt with additives.

My naturopath told me to quit using it a few years ago. I don't remember all the reasons exactly, but one was that part of the reason it's pink is iron -but it's not an iron that can be used by the body so it ends up stashing it away in the joints, arteries, places it shouldn't be.

Without knowing the why’s and the how’s, I stopped taking Himalayan salt as it didn’t seem to agree with me. I now use Cornish sea salt and it’s fine.

On a serious note. I wonder why people don't just use salt that's local to them. The Brittany sea salt or the Maldon or Cornish or the salt from Angelsey if you're in Britain:
