My note: 'Low stomach acid' and 'microbiome issues' seem to the culprit in low B12.

Perhaps, excessive intake of antibiotics in childhood may have caused low stomach acid and               microbiome issues in your case.

So, antibiotics overuse might be causing lot of problems which are not immediately visible.                Like so many things in medicine like wrong treatments for squint, appendicitis, heart              diseases, etc., perhaps taking antibiotics was also based on bad science.

What could cause malabsorption of iron and B12 on a meat based (+dairy) diet?
Any ideas?

  • Mikhail Savelev lack of vit C. It helps iron absorption
  • Mikhail Savelev How do you know it's a malabsorption? It may be a blood loss due to period or other reasons

    • Evans Dealio Beyond that I would suspect an issue within the body. Physical issues, like damage within the body, to autoimmune or infections/parasites.

  • Bethany Noetzelman Dasko For me, it's a gastro bleed. I'm bleeding internally somewhere in my digestive system, we haven't quite figured out the cause yet. So I'm anemic, bigtime.
  • Anna Sofia Nothing, it's from leaky gut or celiac disease or likewise before you went on an animal diet. There's basically nothing derived from an animal diet that can give this kind of malabsorbtion
