Fat - Butter and Olive oil is better; eat 4 grams salt vs 2.3 grams recommended by American Heart Association

1. Fat - Eat Saturated and Mono-saturated fats.

Practically speaking - I generally mix olive oil and butter and keep it in refrigerator. I use it with various foods - fish etc., These two fats have good mix of saturated fat and mono-saturated fat.

Limit high poly-unsaturated fats - soy, corn, saturated.

2. Salt Intake (see: the below youtube video at 18:00 minutes mark)

Salt intake is important.

A research of McMaster studying over 100,000 people found that optimum salt intake for humans is between 4 and 6 grams a day.

US American Heart Association wants us to cut it down to 2.3 grams a day.

As per McMaster study if you decrease intake of salt from 4 grams to 2.3 grams, it leads to increase in heart disease and all cause mortality by 50%.

So, this whole thing about demonizing sodium is being flipped upside down, just like the whole pyramid is being flipped upside down.
