Brushing may not be required under zero-carb protocol; poor oral higene linked to heart disease

The dentist this morning started by saying have things changed since our last visit? I said nope, I really haven't brushed my teeth but maybe 5 times in the last 6 months. In fact I really need to find my toothbrush. She said yes you do, and I said yeah there's some stains in the tile grout in the bathroom I need clean.. Well after the check up she said you must have amazing genes, I said no that's not the case look at all my fillings from the past, I have 8. I mentioned my woe in a few sentances, everyone in the room got silent, then they quickly changed the subject. I do belive some people just dont want hear it, or don't want to except it, except that's it's a possible path in life.

Dustin Dowd Just think about it, if it can rot hard enamaled teeth just by coating them for a few hours that's some really toxic stuff. As well all imagine what it's doing on the inside, no wonder I had such body oder eating a carb diet, my body was excreteing in very way possible. I do hot yoga 4-5 classes a week and oh man there are some smelly girls. Class after class I'm always the one that sweats the most, a huge puddle surrounding my mat with litterly no oder, and this might gross everyone out but I kinda quit showering too..

David Bolton People are sheep and you almost burst their bubble.

Celeste Ryan I still remember a post by Lex Rooker years ago, sharing about a trip to the dentist for a cleaning to find the gaps around his teeth/gums were closing or had closed. The dentist asked for an x-ray and was amazed and said that never happens, especially in someone your age. That story has always stayed with me.

Glad to hear I'm not alone in the tooth brushing laziness.

Annabel Hollins-Cliff Actually I'd brush even if I didn't feel the need to. From the studies I have read, heart disease is linked to poor oral hygiene. So any food that is caught in the teeth and that therefore degrades there, is linked to inflammation. Obviously the studies done were not done with a ZC diet in mind.

Estrada Miller It becomes blood borne gets into arterial lesions and forms biofilm

Estrada Miller Also linked to nanobacteria biofilm

Yaw Bonsu Interesting. I don't think we need toothpaste that has fluoride or anything that might be harmful, but baking soda or something is a good idea

Mela Widmer Thanks for that. I do brush once (with just water) a day and floss. Flossing will always be important to me, brushing maybe I might soon drop it. Great story!

Zach Ricks Dustin Dowd haha I absolutely love this post because I quit brushing my teeth approximately 2 years ago and I am always being harassed about how gross it is etc. etc. So I love hearing success stories like this after switching diet and seeing that there is basically no benefit in todays conventional method of brushing teeth. Every once in a while I will question my judgment and brush for a couple days and my teeth are just a mess for those days they are extra sensitive and bleeding gums and then I remember to just trust my body and do what works for me.

Karen West Wow...i dont stress about brushing my teeth unless they 'feel' icky...but i didnt realuze its actually okay acceptable and good for us not to brush...so excited to learn more! Googled it but not much came up (nothing actually)...does anyone have more info??

Elena Carter That was my experience exactly lol. Except I had way more than 8 fillings in the past. I don't think I have a single good untouched tooth left in my mouth, and yet, as soon as I cut out carbs, my teeth quit falling apart.

Estrada Miller Fermintation of sugar creating acid destroying the enamel

Estrada Miller Yep bacteria and fungus love the gum line .. Nice , wet ,warm and great sugar laden food.. They communicate and colonize .. Forming biofilm aka plaque ..

Angie Mauro Saunders You know, it's interesting that I found myself forgetting to brush a lot because my teeth and mouth didn't feel gross. Although, I do need to pick carcass from my teeth daily. I didn't realize this was a thing on ZC. I felt a little embarrassed and didn't want to say anything. I'm glad that I saw this post. Have any of the admins weighed in on this topic?
