Does zero carb remove inflammation?

There are numerous comments or perceptions that a zero carb diet removes inflammation. I'm interested in understanding why you believe this.

Charles Lubbe Mechanical protection on the surface of the plant; complex polymers that reduce plant digestibility to animals; and toxins that kill or repel herbivores. Scary stuff.  I have yet to see a lettuce go on the attack though.

Sean Ryan Lettuce has been selectively bred to be less toxic. Wild versions can put you in the hospital with just a single meal. 

Lettuce is a powerful medicine, and a questionable food.

Carly Beth Ingerson I don't have the science behind general inflammation, but I was always puffy, bloated, and burning up while eating plants. The second I cut them out I felt coldness, my bloating disappeared, and my skin stopped being the definition of "inflamed". This is what most people experience as well, so it is not unique to me.

Denise Arneson From removing starchy carbohydrates. I don’t think the lower blood sugar caused the drop in inflammation. I believe the inflammation played a part in me developing diabetes

Paul Burkhardt Parsnip and carrot family produce furocumarines, depending on level of attack by bugs. The most extreme of these would be giant hogweed. It's a photophytoreactive sap and is triggered by exposure to UV.

Charles Lubbe Huge supporter.  every method has it's own fundamentals. Some methods obtain very fast results. Others may be more sustainable. I love the concept of a living laboratory. Hence the question.

Amanda Leja Because I went from a person who was unable to pick up my own baby or wash myself in the shower to a chainsaw-weilding, habitat-restoring, truck-driving, general badass conservationist. I have more energy and stamina than the young people I work with who are half my age. Because I'm the only person I know with RA whose health is actually improving over time.

Amanda Leja Now granted, I was able to accomplish most of that on a very low carb diet and fasting. But the part about having more energy & stamina than people half my age is something I'm really noticing since eating zero carb at the beginning of 2018. And I need to eat very little all day, compared to my coworkers who are famished by lunchtime

Lisa Watson Because I have Crohn's disease so have regular blood tests. I've been zc (no plants) for 3 years and last set of tests showed much lower inflammation. In fact crp was 'undetectable '.

Gregg Sheehan It isn't so much that a zero carb diet removes inflammation as much as that a carb-heavy diet (particularly one rich in seed oils and proteins), tends to promote inflammation. When your body doesn't have to fight the food you are eating you will have more resources to fight viruses and infections. We evolved eating 'inflammation neutral' foods - or at least we evolved to cope with the foods that we were eating. We may yet evolve to cope with the foods that are currently overwhelming us with inflammation - but 15,000 years is too short a time to make a dent in it. Give it another 200,000 and we may see some progress. (Not with my help though - I've already passed on my carnivore genes on to the next two generations.)
