Beef, possibly the only true superfood

Summary: Note that the Chinese Navy took live animals on their ships. So, the meat they had was fresh. This must have helped avoid scurvy. While the Europeans have taken frozen/salted meat on their ships. This must have resulted in they suffering from scurvy.


The Chinese navy knew this fact a thousand years ago. They equipped all of the largest ships with areas designed for animal husbandry and the business of raising cattle. They knew that men who ate beef didn’t develop many of the nutrient deficiency based diseases like scurvy. Yes that’s right. There’s even vitamin C in beef. Cows make their own Vitamin C and accumulate it in their flesh.
