Raw Milk - some may feel energized, but lactose intolerant people may not tolerate it

Has anyone experimented with (raw) milk? I found a source nearby, straight from the cow, no heating or anything else. I cycle to the farm every other day and get a gallon of fresh raw milk for 3 bucks.
I was expecting to have problems digesting it because i have not consumed any milk in the last 25 years and never raw, but so far i had no problems except for a few f*rts after drinking almost a gallon in one day. It tastes great and i feel significantly more energized. I want to build more muscle and it makes sense that milk would help you grow stuff. It's only a couple of days now but so far i really like it. Milk has a significant amount of carbs but fortunately it does not trigger me for sweets. If i eat a salad or veggies in a restaurant together with my meat i get cravings for sugar but not from the milk. And if i am not mistaken it even qualifies as a zerocarb food :-)

Diana Collar I love raw milk. My daughter raises dairy goats and we drink it daily. Raw cow milk is delicious!
Karen Burdick You are in a unique position - enjoy!
Jenny Dickerson I love raw milk also. I have a terrible time with pasteurized milk, but not so with raw milk!
Esmée La Fleur It has too many carbs for most of us, but some people do okay with it. It comes from an animal, so in that sense it qualifies.
Gregg Sheehan I cannot imagine that a gallon in one day of what is essentially a sugar drink could be good for you.
Sascha Heid A sugar drink? Sorry, but that's idiotic. Milk is the most complete food of all. Nothing else has as many vitamins and minerals. Its the only food you can exclusively live from. All this is very obvious from the fact for what its used in nature.
Gregg Sheehan Sorry Sascha, but lactose is a sugar. Sugar turns into glucose in the human body, no exceptions. 1 gallon of milk contains 200 grams of sugar. It may have other things as well but they will not help anyone combat the diabetes they are setting themselves up for. The fact that milk is used to promote growth in various animal babies, including humans, doesn't recommend it as a food for adults. While we can tolerate it (or at least some of us can), most human adults develop some form of lactose intolerance as a part of nature's course. I do drink the fat from milk in my coffee as heavy cream and I do have it in my food now and then as butter, but I don't really see the value in replacing all the beneficial proteins in plain meat with milk. It is a food, sure enough, but nature has balanced it for infants, not adults. At some point we have to wean ourselves off it.
Danny Cotton Tons of people here live exclusively on beef.
Joanne Hope Sascha Heid only if it's raw
Angelinka Malinka Молочные продукты и молоко подымают инсулин (имеют высокий инсулин отклик ) я об этом читала давно. Когда я ем молочку, мой сахар в крови подымается выше нормы 😕
Dairy products and milk stir the insulin (have high insulin response) I read about that long time ago. When I eat molochku, my blood sugar rises above normal 😕

Gregg Sheehan In fact, 1 gallon is over 2000 kcals and more than 200 grams of carbohydrates. Not much room left for meat.
Rachel Cobb Chamness I drink sometimes a 6-8 ounce glass to kill PMS cravings  I don't drink that much of it, because of the carbs. But not really sure how many carbs mine DOES have, since it has such a high cream content.
Lucia Burrows I always think cow's milk is for baby cows not adult humans so I would drink in moderation. A gallon is an awful lot.

Richard Price Raw milk is good.
But a gallon per day is a lot!
Debbie Streeter Raw milk is super delicious!!
Susan Henderson I tried it a few years ago and had the same problems I has drinking pasteurized milk. No thanks.
Molly Elizabeth Erickson There is a difference between pure grass fed and grain fed milk. Also different breeds vary in fat content. Jersey cows on pasture have an incredible amount of cream and if raw it is very digestible source of animal fat. I have heard that exclusively breastfed babies are in ketosis. If this is true, milk must be more high fat than high carb. Thinking about this.
Susan Henderson I had it from grass fed Jersey cows and still had acid reflex. It made no difference that it was either of those.
Molly Elizabeth Erickson Some people's bodies may not be designed for milk. Such as those with true lactose intolerance. Others bodies may be damaged to where they can't utilize certain foods like milk or plants. While others may thrive on these foods. I support people in finding out what works for them and sharing the info.
Susan Henderson Yes and that is why I shared my experience
Gregg Sheehan Whole milk

Erin Macfarland We get raw jersey cow milk, my kids drink it but I skim the cream off and eat about a spoon full a day. There's good stuff in there!!
Danny Cotton I am sure it tastes good but that's just way too much sugar for me. And when I drink sugar it affects me a lot worse than if I eat it (in a cheat meal).
Amanda Butera I've been drinking it for 4 years now, from a jersey cow named Tillie. I'd say it's one of the best parts of my diet, along with the eggs from the farm.
Joel Nieminen Westerhult The worlds oldest newly had a baby father (got a baby when he was 94) is basing his diet on mostly raw milk.
Dyan A O'Neil I get that Jersey Raw milk. When it comes to milk for me it has to do with an acquired RA from taking methatrexate. If there's something the cow ate that don't agree with the RA my fingers immediately swell within thirty minutes. I can eat Italian ice cream but not American ice cream. None of it. With all the chem spraying you get what you get.
Chris Harris Listen to your body and check your blood sugar. I have heard of people getting deep healing from drinking large amounts of raw milk. Its not for everyone and the carb issue is definitely worth consideration if you need to loose weight or have blood sugar issues.
Steve Littler I get raw milk from Jersey cows that are strictly grass fed. Even at milking time they are given alfalfa instead of grain like many so-called grass fed cows are given. Jersey cows have lower yield milk than Holstein, but significantly higher butter fat...See More
David Dubowski It's a non-plant food, but definitely not a zerocarb food. A gallon has 192 grams of carbs.
Todd McDonald It's $17 a gallon in my area.
Lily Pisal I did the first 3-4months after starting ZC. I have Hashimoto's and it helped raised my body temperature which is something even thyroid med couldn't. There's a huge difference between how I felt on raw milk and regular store milk (even organic milk from grass fed cows) that I could feel right away. I no longer need it now. My body temp remains normal and stable on beef and water. To reduce flatulence, try taking the milk in smaller sips and swishing it around in your mouth for a few seconds to warm it up before swallowing it. Taking a large amount of cold raw milk from the fridge tends to cause gas problems.
