Plant food passed through undigested into a patient's coloscopy bag. All food needs to be chewed until it is liquid for it to be properly exposed to digestive enzymes and broken down for assimilation.

Hello lovelies ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Many moons ago there was a post about a guy with a coloscopy bag who did an experiment. He was demonstrating how plant matter passed through undigested into his bag, but meat did not. Can anyone recall this post & how I can find it? It would be very useful in proving an argument I'm having in another fb page ๐Ÿ˜‰

Elena Carter The entire blog of Wolverine (it's his story) is incredibly informative. I don't remember the exact post, but he doesn't have a whole lot of posts there anyway. http://roarofwolverine.com

Louise Sargent Well I have a stoma bag and yes that is the case for me too. So much as I love broccoli etc I have cut it right out since my surgery last week

Donna Pisarek That's the one! Thank you ladies ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
That's the 1st time I've read about the medical negligence that lead to his condition. That poor bugger!

Donna Pisarek I've been arguing with this ladies for over 24hrs now. This is her claim :
Donna only if it is fully chewed! Stomach acid and digestive enzymes cannot break down lumps of food. I don't know where you have learned about digestion but your 'facts' are
incorrect. All food needs to be chewed until it is liquid for it to be properly exposed to digestive enzymes and broken down for assimilation. I have studied digestion at several recognised learning providers and they all say the same.
Lol

Louise Sargent i don't want to get too graphic but i've had my new stoma for just over a week now, and pretty much cut out the veg. I haven't noticed much solid stuff in the bag at all since then despite eating a lot

Elena Carter "..several recognised learning providers..." - your typical logical fallacy, appeal to authority. I guess when my dogs swallow large chunks of meat (sometimes with a bone) whole, they should come out on the other end looking the same as they went in... lol I have yet to see them pooping whole chicken thighs.

Louise Sargent i'm glad this was brought up, especially the wolverine case, because I was getting a bit concerned as to why my stoma output is so liquid... i have a good amount of small intestine but eating mainly proteins and fats. doctors want me to take thickener supplements as i may be getting dehydrated too quickly but things should adjust with time. i only came out of hospital yesterday. worst case scenario i will eat a bit of pumpkin or similar to help. not zero carb i know, but i hadn't reached that stage yet and will get there in due time. cutting out the fibre is helpful though, i used to get lots of undigested stuff from my old ileotomies. so all that meat protein is getting broken down just fine!
